If you’ve ever been injured in an accident, obtained some sort of injury that required surgery or therapy, most likely you have spoken or met with a Physical Therapist. The job of a physical therapist is to evaluate the injury and help the patient come up with a plan that combines exercise, massage, and nerve stimulation to help heal and strengthen the injured location.

Students that are looking to enter this field through an online program can look no further than Boston University as they offer an online Transitional Doctor of Physical Therapy program. By already having a BS or MS degree in  physical therapy, you are just a step away of gaining more knowledge of physical therapy and getting a PhD degree.

Boston University’s Sargent College, has created the Transitional Doctor of Physical Therapy online program to help fill in the gap between BS/MS degree and the regular DPT program. This provides students with the ability  to advance their skills and build their currently knowledge of Physical Therapy.

This 22-credit program is divided into 8 courses. Each student will take 2 courses each semester, completing the program in as little as 16 months. The program starts up three times a year, in the Spring, Summer, and Fall, so there’s plenty of opportunities to enroll.

The current curriculum includes the following courses:

  • HP561: Evidence Based Practice
  • HP720: Educational Theory and Practice
  • HP650: Healthcare Management I
  • HP770: Healthcare Management II
  • PT610: Health Promotion and Wellness
  • PT634: Diagnostic Procedures for Rehabilitation Professionals
  • PT773: Comprehensive Case Management III
  • PT780: Academic Practicum

Tuition for the program as of the date of the article is as follows:

  • Residency Fee (due prior to arriving on campus): $150
  • Course Tuition: $1,184 per credit hour
  • Case Conference and Academic Practicum: $2,368 per course

Total Degree Tuition (not including fees) : $26,048
